We kick off each new cohort with our "Welcome to App It Out" class. In this session, you'll meet the fellow aspiring app creators in your cohort and your instructors, review the bootcamp schedule, get answers to your initial questions, and ensure you're ready for an amazing bootcamp experience.

Understanding the App World

The world of apps and technology is always evolving. We encourage you to dream big, but we also want you to have realistic expectations for your mobile app. To achieve this, it’s essential to understand the do’s and don’ts, what to anticipate, and the ins and outs of how the mobile app industry functions.

Validating Your App Idea

To avoid wasting your time and money, we begin your app creation journey by validating your idea and establishing a strong foundation. Is your concept feasible according to Apple and Android's guidelines? Who are your competitors, and what is your niche? By the end of this class, you will have the confidence to move forward, whether that means refining your original idea or exploring a completely new direction.

UI/UX: Designing Your App to Provide the Best Look & Experience

The design of your app—its visual appeal (UI) and the user experience it offers (UX)—is a crucial factor in its success. In this class, we’ll guide you in creating sketches and wireframes for your app, ensuring that it is intuitive and user-friendly. We will also introduce various design software options and guide you through their functionalities.

Money Matters: From Funding to Monetizing Your App

“How much does it cost to build an app?” is a common question for anyone looking to launch an app. We will cover the many factors that influence this cost so you can have a more accurate estimate. More importantly, we will explore various funding options for your app, including bootstrapping, crowdfunding, and pitching to investors. Additionally, we’ll discuss potential revenue streams and how to monetize your app effectively.

Building an MVP (Minimal Viable Product)

One of the most common mistakes new app creators make is overloading the initial version of their app with unnecessary features. Understanding the importance of building a proper minimal viable product (MVP) will save you time and money while better meeting the needs of your current and future customers.

Selecting and Collaborating with a Developer or Designer

Hiring a freelancer or agency for your app development or design comes with its own set of advantages and disadvantages. In this class, we’ll discuss key red and green flags, the differences between offshoring and outsourcing, and essential do's and don'ts to help you protect yourself from potential scams or being ghosted by third-party hires.

Understanding Coding: Traditional, Low-Code, and No-Code

Led by a senior engineer, our coding class offers a friendly introduction to the world of coding. This class covers essential coding principles and includes training in traditional coding as well as low-code and no-code options, enabling you to build your app independently, even with limited technical experience.

Marketing: Attracting Users and Promoting Your App

Before and after your app launches, it's crucial to establish your go-to-market (GTM) strategy, understand your target audience, and explore the marketing channels that are most suitable for your app. These factors significantly enhance your chances of avoiding building a "zombie app." This class covers SEO, ASO, GTM, and more.

Ready, Set, Launch: The App Deployment Phase

The final class of the Bootcamp focuses on all aspects of app deployment. From setting up your app developer accounts to implementing structured methods for monitoring your app's progress and gathering feedback, we equip you with the knowledge you need as you get ready to launch your app to the world.

BOOTCAMP FAQ

  • The App It Out Bootcamp is a 7-week interactive, hands-on program designed to assist you in launching your mobile app. Led by a team of experienced instructors, each with specialized expertise in their respective subjects, the Bootcamp provides opportunities for group teaching and feedback coupled with the option to schedule one-on-one mentor and Q&A sessions with instructors. The setup allows you to receive real-time feedback from fellow cohort members and instructors as you learn, validate or refine your app idea, and prepare to launch.

    In contrast, the App It Out Course offers a more hands-off approach to learning, allowing you to complete the material at your own pace. This course is virtually taught exclusively by App It Out's founder, Sheena Allen.

  • No, the App It Out Bootcamp offers much more than just weekly classes. Additional benefits of enrolling in the Bootcamp include:

    • The option to schedule weekly one-on-one mentor and Q&A sessions with the instructors.

    • A discounted rate on the App It Out Workbook.

  • Yes, we provide the option to enroll in individual classes. However, please be aware that availability is limited and spots are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

  • As a company, our mission is to help you bring your app idea to life, not to take it. We do not sign NDAs, as we encounter hundreds of app ideas through submissions to App It Out and our involvement in the app industry. Our focus is solely on assisting you in executing your vision, not stealing it.

    As for your fellow Bootcamp participants, they are dedicated to their own app ideas. Everyone in the Bootcamp shares the same goal: successfully launching their app.

    Remember, the true magic is in the execution, not just the idea.

  • You are eligible for a full refund up to 14 days before the Bootcamp begins. Once this refund period has passed, if you are unable to attend, you will automatically be transferred to the next cohort.
